Hello and welcome to our site!
SIETAR Europa is Europe's largest association of interculturalists
and is part of the worldwide SIETAR network.
Dear Sietarian,
It is a great priviledge for me to take over the reigns as the new SIETAR Europa President. So, as my first job, I would like to formally pass on the thanks of the entire SIETAR community to Patrick Schmidt for his tireless work as President last year and for his suberp work in creating such a successful Congress in Krakow.
My aims for the next eighteen months fall into three broad categories:
- To bring about another successful congress - this time in Tallinn in May 2013. Follow the links on the site for further details. This time we are offering a really special deal for registering your interest now - and with the chance of winning a free place. Do so before May 31st 2012. The congress aim is to bring people from all around the world, using the latest technologies, to paticipate as both actual and virtual delegates and presenters. We will also be introducing some 'TED'-style sessions.
- To bring greater value to you, our members, for being a member of this organisation. To this end we are creating a repository of resources for your use and pointers to good sources of materials; encouraging greater use of the membership database for you to engage with others in the Europa network to work on joint projects; importing the blogs and news from your national Sietars so you can see what is going on around Europe; and generally making this website the 'go-to-place' for intercultural news, views and information. We will, also, be arranging regular monthly webinars with people who have all sorts of great ideas, tips and techniques to share; the upcoming list will soon be sent to you.
- To bring about a framework for intercultural competence as has been vigorously discussed on our LinkedIn forum Competence in Intercultual Professions. We'd like to hear your views on this - so please post your comments.
It's going to be a busy eighteen months and I hope to be meeting many of you at local events and at your national conferences.
